We will try to do this by focusing on three key areas:\n\nBetter understanding of psychosis and related conditions, including what might cause them, better treatments for people with psychosis, and creating a group of people from across the UK who can join future studies. \n\nYou are invited to take part because you had an episode of psychosis or have been identified as at risk of psychosis. If you agree to take part in the study, you'll be asked to give your consent. You may be invited to an in-person study visit. During this visit, we will ask you some questions about yourself. We will take a sample and we will ask you to complete some questionnaires.\n\nOver the course of the study, you'll be asked to complete further questionnaires either online or using an app. We will need to access your health records for the duration of the study, to see how you do over time. You can choose whether we access any other information about you, such as details about your education. The information you share during the study visits and follow-up questionnaires, as well as your medical records, will be stored safely and securely.\n\nResearchers will be able to use your data only in a way that keeps your identity private. You can choose whether we keep this data and your sample after the study, and if you are happy to be contacted about other studies in the future. \n\nThis study does not include any treatment changes.\n\nTaking part is voluntary and you can stop at any time without giving a reason. If you decide not to take part, you will continue to receive your usual care. As a thank you, you'll be compensated for your time after your initial visit and at various points through the study.\n\nBy taking part, you will help us to improve the understanding and treatment of psychosis in the future. If you would like more information, please talk to a member of the study team.",{"type":94,"sectionSettings":95,"settings":96,"title":97,"text":98,"image":99},"text_and_image",{"sectionLabel":31},{"imgWidth":70,"imgPosition":71},"## About the study","**Improving our understanding of the progression of psychosis over time can provide valuable insights into the early risk markers of more detrimental long-term outcomes, as well as the potential early intervention avenues to change these outcomes.** \n\nThis can support more personalised approaches to assessment, treatment, and allocation of resources to individuals at greatest risk, helping to reduce or even prevent poor psychiatric, social, functional and physical outcomes in this population. Several strands of evidence on personalised approaches for early psychosis hold promise. One is use of blood biomarkers, to identify which treatments a patient is likely to respond to. Another is using routinely collected information (sex, age, medication, routine blood tests) to inform predictive treatment.
